Donald Trump dubbed 'lame duck' as Iran hits US with 'unexpected power move'
The President of the United States has been dubbed a "lame duck" after he heightened fears about the escalating war earlier this week.
Now Donald Trump, who burst into fits of laughter after learning the new Supreme Leader's sexuality, faces another potential complication as the Iran war continues, even though there are reports of peace talks in sight. Iran is said to have hit the U.S. with an "unexpected power move" amid the ongoing war in the Middle East – and it's reported to involve JD Vance.
Many hope the conflict will soon reach a conclusion, though it's not quite clear what will need to happen for peace to finally arrive. It's not the only blow Trump has faced recently either. It comes after Trump was seen "in distress" as his head jerked and eyes rolled back in an alarming health video.
Social media commentator Hal, known as Hal for NY online, detailed his take on the development. He theorised: "Iran just made a massive powerplay against Donald Trump in their ceasefire negotiations, and it involves JD Vance.
"Now, if you missed it, talks between Iran and Donald Trump have actually advanced a little bit, with both sides putting forth their terms for a ceasefire, and talks of a possible peace summit down the road.
"Now, we're ways from that happening, but it should be noted Trump wants Iran to deal with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, but Iran is saying 'Not so fast. We're not dealing with those two, we want to talk to JD Vance', and that is a massive move for two reasons.
"One, it's a signal from Iran, saying down to Donald Trump 'we have cards to play' and, plus, 'we're a sovereign nation, we're not dealing with your lackeys - we want to deal with one of your actual leaders'.
"But more than that it's a signal to Trump and the United States that they recognize Donald Trump is a lame duck. That he will be gone in a couple of years, and they don't want to deal with somebody who is just going to make a deal that's only going to be recognized by him.
"They want to make sure this deal, if they make one, is going to stick, and it shows how far off we are and that Iran isn't just bending over."
The video has been viewed several times since it was shared, and people were quick to comment too. They offered all sorts of thoughts and ideas.
One person said: "Unbelievable." Another added: "Super smart move."
A third replied: "Every move made by Iran shows that they have thought their strategy thoroughly and planning well ahead. They have out-maneuvered DJT at every turn."
Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: "Really? They're going to just deal? Weird." One more wrote: "Iran blatantly denied Trump's peace talks claims."
Many people in the comments pointed out that peace talks don't appear to have actually started, but reports indicate they could begin this week. This is because Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, claimed his country is ready to "facilitate meaningful and conclusive talks" to bring the Middle East conflict to an end.
There appears to be attempts to push Islamabad as a potential venue for negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. Pakistani sources have since suggested U.S. vice-president, JD Vance, was being nominated as a potential chief negotiator from the U.S. side if the talks were to proceed.
Meanwhile, Iranian sources state they would refuse to negotiate with Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, or Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who fronted the nuclear negotiations with Iran ahead of the war. According to officials in Pakistan, the U.S. and Iran could meet this week to try and discuss how to bring the war to an end.
CNN reported Iranian envoys totally refuse to re-start negotiations with Kushner and Witkoff. It's claimed Iran thinks Vance could be more sympathetic in trying to bring the war to an end.
